Complex Procedures Performed on War Veterans.
Dr Hemant Madaan, Dr Nikhil Mahajan performed rota-ablation with stenting : a complex cardiac procedure at NH, Katra. The procedure was performed in 2 war veterans. One of these patients underwent a rare combination of Permanent Pacemaker Implantation with rota-ablation stenting.
Coronary artery problems are a result of the ageing process in the patients and this process is accompanied by large amounts of calcium deposits inside the vessel walls, Rota-ablation is a boon for the elderly as they can opt for it without having to undergo Bypass surgery (CABG). In the process, a tiny drill, powered by compressed air, is used to remove calcium deposits followed by balloon angioplasty and the implantation of one or more stents.
Dr Nikhil added, “ Our main goal is to break the myth that such high end procedures and techniques are available only in tier 1 cities and providing the patients with best medical facilities”.
